Field Maintenance

FIELD MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES

AFTER Each Practice:
  • Rake mounds (coaches can do for you during pep talk)
  • Clean dugouts
  • Lock gates
Game Day
  • Flat drag before games - fold in half/quarter
  • Wet field - mist
  • Wet home plate area
  • Coaches sweep clay from the grass around the infield
  • Line boxes with chalk 
  • Do not chalk the grass
  • After game
    • Rake mounds (coaches can do for you during pep talk)
    • Clean dugouts
    • Lock gates
Maintenance Day
  • Turn on water (front of the park – near entrance/softball field)
  • Wet the clay (wet well)
  • Nail drag
  • Spray lines
  • Empty trash bins (use Gator)
  • Other Prep
    • Standing water: pop and flip clay in large radius - do several times and let aerate 
    • Standing water on home plate - fold in tarp and drag back towards scorebox and get help
